Sorry, Susanne, but I’m not interested in these chain-mail-„awards“ which are nothing more than site-promotion.

Was intrigued by the lat and long location, as your tagline. North Sulawesi, that’s an interesting spot to be tucked away in…

That was the idea, to be tucked away from spoiled nature. I tried to build up my own nature-reserve. But the lizards are nearly all eaten by hunters, snakes still enough and birds in growing population. The general outlook is depressing. The modern savages around me are completely moving in the opposite direction, even the great diving place at Manado Bay is nearly ruined by garbage. But if you like to see it for yourself, Liz, I could be your guide.

It is so interesting, how we are born in one culture (Ich bin auch Deutsche) but are drawn to another, sometimes very different from the old one. Through my first marriage, I lived in the Caribbean and met quite a few other Germans who made their home there. I am also intrigued by your choice of leaving your intellectual job/work behind and becoming a farmer and artist, very similar to my own choices in the last decade. We get to experience many different ways of creating a life and somehow blend it into a new fusion, that (hopefully) works for us…

I love your photos. Where in N Sulawesi are you? We once had a dive business in Manado.

I’m living near Bitung at the south-east coast since 2000. Diving is now heavily damaged by garbage and mining-industry.

I can imagine. I was there in mid nineties and even then there was a problem. Went to Bitung briefly. Remember lots of seagrass and going somewhere to see tarsiers. The diving was incredible and unspoilt once …🙁
